Research has shown that a parasite living in cats can control the minds of rats and humans. This parasite prefers to live in cats, so infected rats/humans become more likely to pass it on to them. Infected rats are more likely to be eaten by cats, and infected humans are more likely to nurture cats.
Although this isn't directly zombie related, it is further evidence that mind control by infection micro-organisms is a real possibility. How long before one turns up that turns humans into mindless automatons? I mean, moreso than American Idol? :D
