On September 18th, 2007 it was reported that shit hit the fan! A meteorite landed in a rural village in Peru. News reports said that locals as well as a number of police officers that arrived on the scene became ill and were rushed to hospital. This increases our zombiecon to 3, as the outbreak may be imminent.

A recently released article concerning the previously reported meteorite landing in Peru has claimed that the illness caused by the crash is simply a product of mass hysteria. Considering that hundreds of people were reported ill, ZombieMeter operatives believe this to be a cover up.

This is an update to the original and follow-up stories posted to ZombieMeter regarding the meteorite that landed in Peru in the fall of 2007. After some investigation, scientists refuted the sickness claimed by locals as well as the idea that the event was a meteorite at all. As of today, they have changed their tune.
